How You Can Help
February Star Sanctuary is not only a rescue — it is our home. These animals are family.
This is a place where trust is rebuilt, healing begins, and new chapters start.
That is our promise.
When you adopt, foster, sponsor, volunteer, donate, share our mission, or even plan for your own pet’s future through legacy giving, you become part of that promise. Together, we create second chances — for horses, for cats, and for the people who believe in them.

Donate
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, February Star Sanctuary relies heavily on tax deductible monetary donations from our supporters. When you donate to FSS, your monetary contribution allows us to direct funding to areas we need it the most, when we need it the most. Every gift supports rescue, rehabilitation, retraining and lifelong sanctuary care. Your donations help us cover the cost of the following expenses, and more.
-
Rescues including transportation and immediate medical needs
-
Rehabilitation including veterinary care, x-rays, hospital stays, surgeries, joint care and medication
-
Retraining including trainer fees, arena maintenance, equipment and transportation

Your Legacy
Plan for Your Horse After You’re Gone
Horses can live a long time. Some breeds can easily live into their 30s! Have you thought about what will happen to your horse, if anything happens to you? Below are some resources to help you plan for who cares for your horse. If you plan ahead and are in contact with us FSS can be a resource, but there are many available options.
Legacy Gifts
We understand it's not the most comfortable subject to talk about. But if your heart feels moved by what we do, your legacy gift would help us in so many ways – veterinary care, medications, food, supplies and so much more! Your gift would positively impact our sanctuary and make a difference in our ability to continue providing horses and cats with the care they need, as we continue the cycle of kindness and love, in your memory.
What is a legacy gift? It is a donation made by an individual through a will or other formal designation. Legacy gifts don’t have to be monetary, either. They can include material goods, property, stocks or whatever you would like to give.
Your wealth advisor can help you to put the correct verbiage, and advise you of the form you feel comfortable with in giving.
Should you decide to do this, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! You will be remembered for your kindness and love toward these beautiful animals, every single day.
Finally, if you feel comfortable sharing your plans with FSS, we can express our enormous gratitude!
Legacy gifts enable February Star Sanctuary to implement the best programs to save horses and cats from being homeless, or worse. U.S. tax laws are structured to encourage charitable giving, and unlimited amounts can generally be donated to charitable purposes free of estate and gift taxes. Your estate plan represents your beliefs, and a way to continue your life passion into the future. There are many giving options as to how you can make horses and cats a part of your legacy:
-
Tax-Deductible Gifts
-
Charity Remainder Trusts
-
Charitable Lead Trusts
-
Charitable Gift Annuities
-
Financial Accounts
-
Wills
-
Living Trusts
-
Life Insurance Policies
-
Retirement Plans
-
Bequest Intention
We strongly suggest that you consult with your attorney or another independent professional advisor to ensure that your plans are in compliance with all applicable laws.
